“Call Me Maybe,” Carly Rae Jepsen (Curiosity, 604, 2011)
It’s been a little while since I have heard a perfect pop song. (Okay, it’s technically been two hours, since I heard “TiK ToK” in the car on my way home from theraPublix this afternoon.) This is a perfect pop song, and it’s No. 38 on the Hot 100 in its first week. If it doesn’t go No. 1, I will be floored.
Oh man. I don’t think Andy has ever steered me wrong when it comes to straight up pop songs and this is amazing. Currently sitting at 130 in the UK charts, I’d be happy with this becoming inescapably huge. On first listen I was all “I can see why the popnerds are going hard on this one” and then I listened to it three more times in the next hour because it’s SO GOOD.
